Slabón Café Bistró (Obarrio)

Their offering for Burger Week was excellent. Slabon knows this is a competition and wants to win. Their sandwich had the size, weight, combination and taste to win. The presentation of the burger under a dome filled with smoke added to the already great taste.

Slabon is getting way too popular. The tables are too hard to get especially at peak hours. But when you do sit and get your food, Slabon never fails to serve great burgers. This past visit I tried the Oaxaca Burger. The combination of pico de gallo, guacamole, and chipotle mayo was great.

I enjoyed another visit for lunch at Slabon. This time I went to "train" for their Reto de Slabon. The reto is to eat three XXXL Burgers that consist of two ½ pound patties which would bring the total to a whopping 3 pounds of meat. There is a 35 minute time cap to accomplish this. I tried one of these XXXl Burgers and the taste was so good that i was able to down it i only a few minutes. I will have to go once again and order two and time myself and see how I feel. But the burgers at Slabon are fantastic so this reto may not be that hard to win.....

I went back to Slabon after many months and after leaving I regretted not going more frequently. The selection of burgers is outstanding. I ate a large ½ pound burger on a soft whole wheat bun that was excellent. I opted for a side salad instead of the fired starches offered. Tasty and juicy. I will be going back.
