Birthday time!!! For my special day, I had a strong desire for a good steak at a nearby restaurant that I like, which meant that Muh was on deck! Typically, I get the ribs but when eating with others that get steak, they always rave about it. So this time, I plan to indulge.
It was a Tuesday evening, so seating was quick and the service was great, as usual. Here is the dining experience feedback :
I ordered the Bife Ancho (Argentinian Ribeye) with Yuca Frita con Chimichurri - the yuca was excellent, as always (fresh, fried in clean oil with the right amount of chimichurri). Unfortunately, the steak was a big disappointment. The most expensive order on the menu, I ordered it cooked medium, however, most of it came closer to rare and was not tender at all. Had to hack thru the meat - the edges were closer to medium and as a result, were tender with great flavor. Discussed with the waitress and demonstrated how hard it was to cut thru the steak. This apparently was the last piece and probably was frozen or not the best cut, not sure. Regardless, this was a HUGE disappointment.
The wife had the Steak Sandwich - the meat was well cooked and flavorful, however, the bread was overtoasted and very hard as a result. She ate all the meat, but only about half the bread, as much as she could.
The 8yo had his, now usual, kids hamburger and fries, which he ate in its entirety and was well satisfied.
To drink. I had the Sangria tinta (red) which was a large serving and of good taste. The restaurant provided a complimentary desert of Hot Chocolate cake a la mode, which was very good - all enjoyed that.
Overall, this is a very good restaurant that had an off day. Huge disappointment with what should have been the best meal on the table on a special night + the misfire with the bread on the steak sandwich (we've had this in the past and it was excellent) made for a less than perfect evening unfortunately. With that said, we would still recommend this restaurant, however, it's on notice for a "foul on the play", in the spirit of the ongoing World Cup.
