Seeking a new experience for Mother's Day, selected La Fisheria-Causeway since its been awhile since we've been out that way and desired a high quality seafood dining experience. Parking isn't much of an issue at this location at the end of the Causeway, even with the Mother's Day craziness (thank goodness!). No one greeted us at the entrance - we weren't acknowledged until we approached the bar, located in the middle of the restaurant. I can forgive that due to the super busy day. Once greeted, we were given our option of seating and we selected a table by the railing, with a direct view of the city, really nice! The service was excellent - our waiter was very personable, attentive and even spoke a little English! We made our selections and received our order within a reasonable time. Here is the feedback on the food: the wife had Fried Corvina al ajillo (Garlic sauce) with Patacones - received a large fish, that was fried well, however, the garlic sauce provided very little flavor, Seems that they were not as generous with the amount of garlic used in the sauce, leaving a lot to be desired with the dish. The accompanying patacones were very hard - seems that they were cooked some time before and had been sitting out for some time. Very disappointing. I had the Pargo Rojo al cartucho (Red Snapper steamed in a bag) with Pure (mashed potatoes). My dish was very good - a whole, large Red Snapper cooked in its own juices with fresh vegetables with the center bone removed. Adding hot sauce made this an even better meal for me. Clearly fresh and properly cooked to maximize the flavor profile. This was a winner! The 8yo had his customary chicken fingers with fries, which he enjoyed and ate almost to completion. To drink, we had a jar of red sangria, which was strong, though I had no issue with that, it did bother the wife a little. Overall, regarding the food - did not earn 5 star from us, because of the issues with my wife's meal plus the fact that the pricing is VERY high, relative to other seafood focused restaurant we've visited. For the price, frankly, we expect the food to be near perfect. Service was excellent, no complaints there, as our server was very attentive and aimed to please. On ambiance, took off stars here based on environmental observations that did not sit well with us. Again, for a restaurant offering as high prices as they do, this should be a 5 star experience all around. All considered, we cannot recommend this restaurant location and do not plan on visiting again.
