Boulevard Balboa (Bella Vista)

Often going to the oldest restaurants in Panama entails knowing whats best on the menu. This is Panamas oldest version of a "diner" and for me the sandwiches and milkshakes are king. They also do great fruit smoothies. Whenever I go here I always get the same thing which I never get bored of because it so good. I get the filet steak sandwich with swiss cheese ONLY with butter and mustard. Putting lettuce, ketchup and mayo in ruins it in my opinion. Sometimes I get the grilled potato fries too if I'm hungry as these are really dry and crunchy and delicious. I wash it all fown with the absolute best milkshake in Panama....coffee milkshake. They use good espresso and vanilla icecream and its amazing! They also do by far the best club sandwich I've had in Panama. Try any of these and you will thank me later. Sit at the bar. Service is great. Highly recommend.

The BEST diner in Panama. The one I'm talking about here is the oldest and most well established one on Avenida Balboa (not the one in Allbrook Mall). Two things I'm obsessive about here...1) batido de cafe (coffee milkshake)...absolutely the best batido (alongside the chocolate one from Pan y Canela) in Panama; 2) emparedado 'filete con suizo y mostaza' (filet steak sandwich just with butter and mustard...don't add all the other crap like lettuce, tomato, mayo and ketchup...keep it simple)...it's like a panini squashed sandwich...and the bread they use is soft and sweet and SO delicious! All the other food I'm sure is good...but these 2 items are so great I wish there was a dedicated turn off just for this place along Cinta Costera when I'm going in the opposite direction. The staff behind the central bar where they make the sandwiches/smoothies are worth particularly mentioning. Some are the original staff from the 60's I'm sure...it's a pleasure to watch them work...they are very attentive and friendly...and if you're really nice they may let you have what's left in the blender! Ai! Apparently politicians and other important (?) people come here...but who cares when the food is this good value and there's always something better to watch on the TV.

Para mí este es un lugar al que uno va más por el ambiente, para poder conversar con amigos o en familia, que por la comida. Encontrarás una gran variedad de sandwiches que si bien están ricos, no son algo memorable. No es un lugar costoso, por lo que la relación precio calidad es ok. Regresaré por la vista a la bahía, para sentarme en la terraza y tomar una malteada que son buenisimas, más que por la comida.

Tenia muchos años sin ir. Fui porqué habia ido hace unos meses a la sucursal qué tenian en Pacific y me gusto, pero que va no es lo mismo en esta sucursal clásica que creo le falta un poco de amor. Pedí un emparedado tipo cubano que estaba bueno, pero en función al precio no lo veo como algo que me encantara. No se si volvería por un tiempo.

Tiene un menu muy variado pero me decepciono los emparedados, ya no tienen opciones de pan, recuerdo que hace años había hasta opción de pan mona para los emparedados y mas vegetales. los batidos deliciosos.
