Let me start by saying that I had high hopes for this place...and it wasn't all entirely hopeless...but I think it looks better than it actually is. I loved the 'feel' of the place...sandwiches all made and on display for you to see, the industrial warehouse look, the open bakery so that you can see what goes on. But I found when I approached everything from a more critical eye (...after all this is what a review is meant to do right?) the overall feeling I had was that the quality of products and the service provided was only really good/decent and it was the decor and (new) experience that was pushing me to think it was better. IMO, not a great idea to queue for a sandwich, queue to pay then queue again to have it toasted/cooked. However, great looking sandwiches...but not nice to fill them with crisp fresh lettuce which then goes all warm and soggy after toasting...just a personal preference. The "fresh" juices I didn't think were very good. I mean, they were pre-made in plastic cups for a start and our papaya one was solid...and my maracuya was not particularly sweet. The seating area is very small...the actual chair and table that you sit at is tiny...I'm quite a big guy (not particularly fat I hasten to add)...and it was verging on uncomfortable for me...though perfect for all the skinny housewives here I guess. Afterwards we had a good look around the sweet section...I can't say I tried any of the chocolates but everything looked pretty good. There were a lot of greek inspired and traditional deserts which is great if you want just that...but I wanted to see what else they had (could do) and it was limited. We tried a couple of croissants (ham and cheese plus a chocolate) and they were overly buttery...really overly buttery...not light and fluffy but quite sickly from all the butter and very stodgy...wasn't impressed with these. Not worth mentioning the carparking as it was very limited which is the norm everywhere here. Overall, I would think to go back sometime if I was close by to give it another chance as it is a welcome new addition to the San Fran neighbourhood.
