I was very pleasantly surprised! This is the best sushi restaurant in Panama.
The restaurant has a very elegant and simple decor, centered around the sushi chefs. The booths are comfortable, tables intimate. There is a open area that allows you to look down upon a lounge below, and this makes for great acoustics. It never gets so loud you can't have a quiet conversation.
The service was excellent. Wait staff were attentive, the meals came out quickly. When one of our party ordered 2 different appetizers, the waiter made sure as to the order of food that war desired.
Food quality was magnificent. The fish was fresh, perfectly cut and when appropriate cooked. The wasabi remarkable. I urge you to go just for the wasabi.
Alas, like all great sushi places, it was very pricy. Not something I would indulge in very frequently. However, for those special occasions I highly recommend it.
I had high hopes on arrival, the restaurant is truly beautiful. Easily one of the best looking places in Panamá.
Soon after being seated, the poor quality of service reared it's ugly head. The quality of service here is the worst I have experienced in the last year, I may have rated it a 0 if that was possible on degusta.
To be fair, the maitre d' was very good, and spoke good English. He also made some good recommendations on dishes. The rest of the wait staff however are abysmal. Tip: make sure you are firm about getting water, or it might be an hour before any reaches your table.
The food quality was so so. The sauces were excellent, and to my taste the right blend on spiciness. However the protein in the dishes were clearly the cheapest cuts and quality available. My dish (penang curry) would have been more enjoyable with just the sauce over Jasmine rice.
I personally would never return because of the service. I also think the value proposition isn't there. The cost for the quality of the food doesn't fit, for my taste.
It's a pity, it's really beautiful.
The ambiance of the restaurant is an interesting mix of casual and formal. Its pleasant, but the acoustics make it very loud if there are a lot of diners near you. Not a good choice for intimate conversations unless you like to have those in a loud voice :)
The service was very good. The waitress made good suggestions on dishes, and even warned us when we ordered something that was a very small portion size, stating that we better get an appetizer. No-one spoke good English, if that is something you look for.
Food quality was good. I had the corvina dish, which was cook very well. The plating was good also. The only complaint would be the serving sizes. Some dishes, like the corvina, were adequate, while others like the ravioli were very small, perhaps the size you would expect in an appetizer.
Due to the portion size, we had desert. I had what could only be described as a apple pie flavored pizza slice. It was tasty, but watch out for the cinnamon.
This is one of my favorite brunch places in Panamá. It brings a European sophisticated feel in both the ambiance and food choice and quality.
It doesn't try and overwhelm you with food choices, more isn't always better. However what they do provide is of good quality. The dairy for instance is the best I have tasted in Panamá. Try the yogurts.
The service is good, most speak good English also.
Price is high for Panamá, so it's a once in a while thing for me.
American style dinner, with limited menú. Mostly visit for desert. Service, like most of Panama, is horrible. However this place had the distinction of having the most depressed looking employees.
It's sometimes difficult to find a clean table and booth to sit at, but other than that the restaurant has a good American diner theme going.
Never arte the food, as I am vegetarian. But the desert is good.
