Moró
This is an update for my rating on the Night Brunch from a previous review. We have been to the Night Brunch three times including last night December 17th. The music was so loud they should hand out ear plugs at the door to protect your eardrums. Seriously why spend over $40 to eat with friends when no one can even talk with each other. Hopefully they can correct this problem or the Night Brunch will turn into a disco without a dance floor. We will wait to see if others have similar reviews or if it gets better before going back again. What a shame.
Moró
We went to the Night Brunch on November 12th 2021. The food was great and lots of choices including: ribeye roast, New York roast and pork roast. They had many vegetables, salads, potatoes and rice dishes. There were sushi rolls and ceviche choices. Plus the deserts were extremely good. Three cocktails are provided per person, wish they would include glasses of wine as an option. The music was good but a little loud. Next time we will sit towards the back a little ways from the music. We hope to go again in December.
Os Segredos Da Carne
We went for lunch on September 29th the first day it was open for in house dining. This is one our favorite restaurants in Panama City with great food and service. They had very good safety protocols to protect diners from the virus, including only using the utensils once at the salad bar and then place them in the bucket for washing. We felt very safe and had a wonderful meal.
Las Bóvedas
This is a review of last years, 2018, New Years Eve party. We purchased the party for two on OfertaSimple for around $95 per person. We had been to this nice restaurant for a dinner and enjoyed the experience. However, this is not what we experienced on the New Years Eve party. They setup plastic tables and chairs in the large courtyard and had what looked like over 250 people crowed into this area. For the price we paid for this event, we expected good food and reasonably good wine. What we got was quite poor buffet food that ran out before everyone had a chance to eat much and the wine was the cheap $5 a bottle stuff you buy at the grocery stores. This event was a huge disappointment and we would not attend another New Years Eve party at this restaurant again.
La Vespa (Area Bancaria)
We went to this restaurant for lunch on an OfertaSimple coupon expecting to pay a lot more than the $40 from the coupon. We were greeted with a friendly waiter and seated at a nice table. The menu is quite expensive but we did find some items under $20 which we enjoyed, especially the lasagna with a very nice red sauce. We also had a couple of very good glasses of rose bubbly, which were filled to the brim at $5 each. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. This was a nice experience and we will return for another meal.
Aurum
We went last night for a special Thanksgiving buffet, which was $45 including tax and tip. First we have been to the Aurum before for a buffet dinner and it had been very good. This Thanksgiving dinner was anything but good. The turkey and ham were both bone dry and hard to eat. The ribeye was tough with no flavor and the mashed potatoes were very lumpy and again no flavor. The deserts were reasonable for a buffet, but not great. The restaurant was sold out for this Thanksgiving dinner and the food began to run out. It seems like they only made enough for what was originally put on the table and not enough for replacement dishes. Now you may ask why we would want replacement dishes if the food was not very good. Well we paid $45 for the dinner and it was Thanksgiving, so we wanted something to eat. This dinner was a complete disappointment from the food standpoint. We will not return to the Aurum for any special holiday dinners.
Oak
Another wonderful meal at Oak in the Street Mall. This is our third time eating at this restaurant and it does not disappoint. We started out with the garlic beer bread served with a cheese, eggplant and tomato spread, which is given as a starter to every diner. We love this garlic bread and would go to this restaurant just for this plus the house made beer. Our two main dishes were wonderful with lots of grilled lamb and roasted vegetables. The desert was Three Chocolates and may be the best desert we have had in Panama City. If you like chocolate, give this a try. The food is great but maybe the best thing about the Oak is that they make you feel like family or a good friend. We have been there three times but were greeted at the door by the chef and manager. If you ask for any small changes in the dishes the answer is always yes, they do not know how to say no. We feel so happy every time we have been to the Oak, we cannot wait to go again. This is a new jewel in Panama City. Give it a try.
Xavie`s Bbq (Bella Vista)
Xiave's is in an outdoor food court. The BBQ ribs, beef and wings are very tasty. The seating location can be a bit hot during the day and noisy from traffic. The food took quite a long time to be served but the taste was wait.
Al Dente Trattoria
We went to Al Dente for some appetizers as we had heard the buffalo wings were quite good. The buffalo wings did not disappoint, very good. The wine buy the glass was not good, better to have a beer or soda. The wings and view from the tables were worth the visit.
The Wine Bar
The thin crust pizzas are very good and there is a large selection of reasonably good wine by the glass. They often have special offers available online if you look for them. Worth a visit.
