Charro Mexicano (San Francisco)
Charro Mexicano is hands down the BEST Mexican food you can find in Panama City, Panama. The food has all the spice, whether hot or just well seasoned, and depth of flavor that keeps you coming back for more. The first thing you have to order is their guacamole with fresh pico de gallo and homemade tortilla chips! There are times when my boyfriend and I will only come for the guacamole and margaritas. Speaking of margaritas, you’ve got to order the blended maracuyá margarita. Now be prepared, their margaritas are LARGE. However, you will find yourself coming face to face with the very bottom of your glass soon enough. Don't miss out on their sopa de tortilla and filete charro mexicano (the sauce is to die for!). Their location in San Francisco has moved from the little hole in the wall next to the barber shop to a fantastic location that allows for indoor and outdoor seating. There are plenty of parking spaces in the front and around the back, but it does get quite crowded because of their strong foodie following. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. Food and drink service is fast, but slow when it comes to paying. If you are in a hurry to pay it is best to walk up to the register in the back in order to leave quickly. The owners make sure to come around and ask customers about their experience, and they never forget a face! They remember their regulars and ask how their families are doing. Don't miss out on this place, it is one of kind!
Tacos La Neta (San Francisco)
Location, location, location. Sitting under the shade provided by the lush greenery and trees, with cooling summer breeze, and a margarita in your hand- it isn't a bad place to be. 👌🏻 Their guacamole is good, but if you don't like a lot of lime it isn't the starter for you. Their flautas de pollo are excellent! Crunchy on the outside, warm and well spiced on the inside. Their tacos are also good. I would recommend the Bistec Guey and Mariachi Chorrillo over others. Their homemade sauces to add to any dish are fabulous! 👍🏻 Try them all individually, but my favorite combination is a little bit of all of them together. The perfect blend of spices. If you like a spicy margarita and a relaxed, Instagram worth location, this is the place for you!
Café Unido (Coco del Mar)
This is the best place to get together for a morning cup of coffee or a light breakfast. Their food options range from simple eggs dishes to pancakes to breakfast sandwiches. But if you are coming to Café Unidos you are coming for their coffee. Their coffee! 😍 They have devine Geisha Pour Overs, black coffee, cappuccinos, espressos, lattes, americano style, and the list goes on and on. However, it is their iced lattes that have me coming back every time. The best in the city! Their Coco del Mar location is quite small and is very busy on the weekends. Come early if you want a table! Their service is excellent- quick, professional, and friendly. If you want to impress visitors or your coffee lover friends, this is the place to be. This location is also very pet friendly, so don’t be surprised to see many friendly, furry faces when you stop by!
La Rana Dorada (San Francisco)
La Rana Dorada pub in San Francisco is the a great place to stop for a nice cold microbrew beer and a good pizza. Always start with the free beer flight, el bote. It is a cost effective and efficient way to remind your palate of their beer while also receiving a taste of their seasonal tapping. Their beers range from a pale ale to a hoppy IPA to a dark stout style. If it is in season, don't miss out on the Maracuyá Sour. If you are there to order some food, order the Chicken Taco Pizza. I repeat, order the Chicken Taco Pizza. Trust me, you won't regret it. Just enough spice to pair with any pint of their beer. The location is part of a small street mall. Parking can get full quickly, but there is space on the street when the parking lot is full. Atmosphere is very expat and internationally friendly, and is a great place to gather with friends and watch a local soccer game. It is also a good spot for when it is raining and you're wanting to get inside for a relaxed afternoon.
