Rancho del Mar
Panama has a lot of Italian restaurants, but we discovered this weekend this place and it surprised it very positively: the attention was Italian-styled very friendly, very nice people & the food was super tasty. Fresh soup of the day (pumpkin) delicious, a pity there was only one portion left, so yeah freshly made. Gnocci were the special of the day & wonderful tasty. Dessert: try the crème-brulée (maybe a little sweet, but that's personal taste) Lights & candles give a nice atmosphere in the evening. One remark: it's open air, and some seasons in the evening mosquitoes can be annoying, so best long trousers & bring repellent with you, just in case.
Pipa`s Beach
The place is a trendy hip beach-club with very local latino atmosphere, at the end of a sandy road. We visited it on sunday & was quiet busy (don't expect a relax quiet beach bar ;-) The food was ok, fish filet a bit dry (cooked to long), but the shrimps were very tasty. All the food is very fresh. Menu is almost pure seafood. Service was good, for sure not easy on such busy days to keep all clients served right away, but the personel working there, really works (not always the case in this country) and were very attentive all the time. In the weekend, weWe wouldn't recommend it for families with young children, but with ado's ok. On the beach there are quiet some activites (horses, banana-boat) etc. but you need to pay a fee to use the full club (if you tel at the entrance you only come for lunch, you don't pay the entry fee.
Casa Florencia
Chano`s Point
An absolute must if you are in Santa Catalina. A well hidden gem, not commercialized little restaurant with a lovely chef and amazing tasty dishes. Don't be disappointed if only one lobster available, depends on what they catch. Location: on the end of a unpaved road (accesible by car), but for sure you'll doubt a second if you're on the right spot when you get there, but yes, it is the little wooden place with only 3 tables (be sure you make a reservation if you go in the weekend). You won't leave hungry at all, seen the size of all the food you get -- super fresh!
Luna Rossa
Simply, it's a must to grab something to eat or a drink in this place when you're passing / staying in Santiago!
